Happy Thanksgiving!!

I trust everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Please remember to be sure to thank God for his blessing EVERYDAY.

Well, KyKy and I decided to try the fishtail braid for her Thanksgiving day hair style.  After watching several Youtube videos we decided to give it a try!  KyKy loved this style and it was not as hard as I thought.  The biggest tip I have, is to be sure the sections you are grabbing from the sides are SMALL.  I started getting them a little too thick in our first try and it looked like a braid.  So, I took it out and tried again with smaller pieces.  Her hair is super thick and curly.  I decided to let some of that hang and make the style a little more dressier.  I wanted it to hang over her shoulder, but she doesnt like the feeling of it on her neck.  Overall, we loved this style and will be experimenting with this more.  Im interested to see how this would look with two ponytails...

Just for fun, here is a pic of my baby boy.  Baby Boy used to have long hair but decided he wanted it cut.  We cut it less than a year ago and he wants it long again.  We are testing this.  His hair is not the same texture as it was before the cut (some people dont understand this, but I swear its true), so we will see how his hair turns out.  For Thanksgiving, he wore a curly-hawk.  He loved it, but it didnt last through his nap ride to our family dinner...

Thank you for viewing and be sure to check in for our next hair project!  BE BLESSED!!!

Mini Braids---Coming out!!

Whew!!  I am not ready for this challenge but it is def time for the braids to COME OUT.  We had a lot of fun with the braids and KyKy enjoyed all of the attention she received from people LOVING the braids and the fact that she was actually able to sit still long enough for me to braid them.

I decided to post a pic of how frizzy her braids we right before taking them out.  Not horrible, but it was time...We had a week with our mini braids.  I also Included a pic of what her hair looked like after one braid was taken out. When I was taking out her braids, I sprayed them with our water-conditioner mix.  This made it easier to start her ends and get a good hold on her smaller braids.

KyKy's hair was ALL OVER the place when I finally got the braids out.  I decided to give her an EVOO treament then a good wash and condition.  Her hair didnt get tons of TLC while braided so I wanted to give it some extra lovin tonight.

This is a picture of her hair right after wash and comb.  She said it felt so soft!  She couldnt keep her hands off.  LOL

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving so I have been trying to decide on KyKy's hairstyle.  I think that we have both decided to do a fishtail ponytail.  I have never tried one, but thanks to several Youtube videos I am ready to try it out.  Im thinking side ponytail with some pretty accessories up top...I will post pics after Thanksgiving.

I am going to let her hair rest, but I also want it to stretch over night so our fishtail will be a little easier to manage.  I have added several pony tail holders down the length of her ponytails.  Im hoping this will keep it managable and maybe even semi straight as we perfect her fishtail.

Be sure to check back in a couple days so you can check out our completed fishtail!  Subscribe to my blog to receive our updates and please tell your friends!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!  AND BE SURE TO THANK GOD FOR HIS BLESSINGS!!!!!

Mini Braids

OUR FIRST ATTEMPT AT MINI BRAIDS

KyKy was very excited about this style but I dont think she realized it was going to be a JOB. She did very well while I braided. I actually did the back portion in about an hour-hour and a half and did a top side ponytail for the night because she had school the next morning so I had to send her off to bed.

I actually liked the look of the side ponytail on top and braids in the back so I let her wear it that way for a couple days. She was sick with a stomach bug so I took advantage of the lounging day to finish her braids. Again, it took about an hour plus. She was VERY excited once they were complete and couldnt stop touching them. LOL

The braids were a little thicker than I had originally desired, but her hair is so thick and long it would have been impossible to make them really thin braids.

Our First Attempts

WELCOME

Well, KyKy and I have been experimenting with her hair by checking out various sites and I decided we should start to share our hair designs as well.

KyKy is 6 years old with very curly hair and I was getting bored with the usual 1 ponytail or 2. If we let her leave her hair down, it is horribly tangled in 5 minutes so she usually gets some sort of ponytail or braid. Her hair is very long and she is loving our hair time now because I am letting her help pick the styles.

We have tried several styles that we have found on the youtube, blogs, and facebook. I dont recall where they came from, but from this point on I will be acknowledging the sites that we get our inspiration from.

Pictured below is our first attempt at Woven Braids. A lot easier to do then it looked when we first decided to do them. Ky loved them and they lasted for several days and got lots of compliments. My note for our next attempt: make the front sections a little smaller. They frizzed early because I had more hair up there than needed.

This was our Halloween hair. The kids at KyKy's elementary school are not allowed to wear there costumes, so the night before I played around with some orange fabric. This is orange fabic braided into a small part of her hair as the third strand. I let the rest of her hair hang. (The bottom picture was her scary face. LOL)

Thank you for visiting and I hope that KyKy and I can be inspiration for your next hair adventure!!
