When your daughter asks....

Welllllll,

Hello everyone. So my Ky found my old blog that I used to post her hairstyles on. Her reaction was ‘let’s do it again!’  Idk about you but when my teenager jumps on board with having her hair styled, I’m jumping as well. Lol.

Her first request....box braids. I put it off for several days but decided when she asked today to just ‘get them done’.  I don’t want her to feel like I’m not interested in doing her hair. I’ve had a busy couple of days and hair was not on my agenda.

So back to the box braids. I decided to make them a little larger than normal due to time constraints. She has three basketball games this week so I figure we can at least make them last the week.  She will end up sweating them out anyway.

She loved them!  I think they came out better than she thought since it was a ‘rush’ job.

I added some corn rows to the left side just for some variety.

Back of the hair. I braided the sides to blend with the box braids.

Very pleased. Sections definitely larger but I like the way it turned out. This will not last long but long enough. 3 games this week means sweat and pulling it up and down.

Thanks for making the a great return to blogging guys!  Ky will definitely appreciate seeing this and if you guys have a moment. Leave us a comment.

Too much time away!!

Hello Everyone!!!  It has been  entirely too long since I have posted a new entry!  Ive def still been trying more styles on KyKy and have included some of them for you!!!  We've been trying to keep styles going with holidays and special occasions and still do styles at random.  LOL

Our Valentine 'do. This was one that we did several days before V-Day as a practice, and we really liked it and kept the style in for several days. She really liked the heart braids!!

The heart ponytail was in the back and two ponytails up top with a zig-zag part.  I had to re-do the ponys but the braid lasted a while!!

ENJOY OUR NEWEST PROJECTS AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE IDEAS FOR MORE!!

Part two of our Valentine's Day style.  This is the style she actually wore on V-Day and LOVED it.  I did a heart part and pulled her braid through her band at the top of her braid.  The other side of her head (right) is a twisted french braid.  You just use two sections of hair as opposed to three.  It gave this style a nice elegant feel...

The two styles below are showing off two things' 1-LOOK HOW LONG KYKY'S HAIR IS!!  2-Ive mastered the rope twist!!  The rope twist is so much nicer than a simple twist and def lasts longer.  Only downfall is that I have to wash them out because it is impossible to comb them out of KyKy's hair.  The rope twist is done by taking your two sections of hair that you would typically twist with and twisting each section to your right...then take the two twisted sections and twist around eachother to the left.  I will have to freshen up my right twists every so often but once you master the rope twist, you will be doing them jsut as fast as your typical twist!!

Well folks, THANKS FOR VIEWING and remember to SUBSCRIBE!  I would like to see this blog grow so please support our page!!  GOD BLESS and hopefully I wont be gone so long next time ;-))

Day Off=Easy Style

KyKy had a long weekend due to snow and Martin Luther King Jr Day.  My idea was to do a simple style so that I could let it get some rest and that I wouldnt have to mess with it when we were just going to be lounging around the house.  Turns out...I LOVED IT!  I started out with 4 simple cornrows in the back.  I had no idea what my plan was going to be.  I was free styling it.  I then went on the do a side ways part from the top left to the bottom right meeting her cornrows.

The side ways part gave me two sections.  I then added a side part in each section giving me four sections up top, and plaited each section.

This style turned out better than I had ever imagined and she actually wore it to school for two days.  She slept with her bonnet on and the style lasted and stayed gorgeous!
Thank you for reading!!  My next style update is going to be the HEART ponytail and braid!  I was so excited to try this style and surprised that I did it so well ;-))  GOD BLESS

F-A-I-L!!!

HELLO!!!!!

Well.....I have decided to post my self proclaimed FAIL.  LOL  I tried a style that I had seen on Babes In Hairland Blog.  It was a very pretty ribbon style and we had been excited to try the ribbon style.

Problem is...it didnt turn out the way that we had hoped it would.  LOL  It was so much cuter on the Blog site.
The style has three small ponies sectioned off up top.  I split each pony tail into two sections so I could twist them together.  I tied them into one ponytail at the bottom and the three sections.  I weaved the ribbon in these three sections and tied the ribbon at the top of the bottom ponytail.

Well, here ya got my FAIL.  I wasnt very pleased with this style but we will def need to try it again.  I dont expect perfection after the very first time I try this style.  Excited to try it again after a while.

I have spent tons of my free time making bows.  Ill post another bow blog soooooooon.

Thank you for reading and please comment and subscribe.  I would like to hear ideas and suggestions from you.

GOD BLESS!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!! I thank God that we all remember the reason we celebrate.  I like to speak with my children about to true meaning of Christmas, but I also enjoy the practices of modern times.  So, YES we had a style for her school Christmas party.  I didnt have much time but we pulled off a really cute style that lasted through her party and even the airport after picking up her Uncle Bryon.  He is in the Navy in California and we were able to greet him as his flight landed.

I did a Cornrow that started mid left and braided it all the way across her head and down to a plait.  The braid stayed in for several day through several styles.  I parted the remaing hair into two ponytails.  I sectioned of two pieces of hair in each ponytail and the ribbon was the third strand.  I have used the ribbon strand with several styles and we love it!  I tied some festive green ribbone at the top of her ponytails.  As I said, this style was very cute, quick, easy, and lasted a long time!

This is how KyKy wore her hair for Christmas!!  We banded of the front into seven sections and then seperated them to make slider/zig zag braids.  We then connected the slider/zig zag braids into a ponytail in the back of KyKy's hair.  It is a half ponytail as we have some of her hair hanging lose.  The only products used in KyKy's hair for this style was our water-conditioned mix.  This photo was taken in the evening, so the style had help up pretty well!

The photo below is how we combined the sections to make the slider braid!  She loved it and so did our friends and family!  Very fast and easy style!

Thank you for viewing and BE BLESSED!  Tons more bows to follow this post soon.  Santa brought me some bow making material and tools so Ive been BUSY!!!!

Bow-Nation!!!!

LOVIN MY BOW TIME

I have been greatly enjoying my bow making time!!  Once I get KyKy and my baby boy's in bed, it becomes my BOW TIME.  My kitchen has become BOW-Nation.  My ribbons, clips, hot glue gun, scissors, needle, and threads have taken over my kitchen table.  And I am loving every minute of it.  Bow making has kinda turned in to my down time and my ME time (even tho Im not doing something for 'me' lol).

I am gradually learning new styles but this is a technique I refer back to often.  Very easy and the bows come out very pretty.  I love the opportunity to play with color.

With the bow below, I played with several different things.  I did the typical bow, then added a few Korker bows, and added a flower to the center of the bow.  I was really pleased with this bow.  It started out as an experiment and really took off and turned into something that I think is very pretty.

The Butterfly Bow was my biggest challenge thus far in bow making.  I just couldnt get my hands and fingers to cooperate.  It took several attempts and several 'how-to' videos before I was honestly pleased.  Pictured below is my first successful attempt.  KyKy was blown away and couldnt wait to wear the Butterfly Bow! Check out the placement of the stones!  ;-))

KORKER BOWS!!  Love these!!   Wasnt too sure about these when I originally decided to take a stab at bow making.  My sister in law asked about some for her daughter and I decided to give it a go.  In actuality, they were the easiest bows, by far, and I really enjoy making them.  I bought more dowels so I could make more than a few at a time.  SO EASY and SO PRETTY.  KyKy was blown away at the Korker bows.  She felt really girly because of the bounce!

The Christmas Tree clip was a fun project.  I have decided to make these for all of the little girls in our families.  So easy and so pretty.  KyKy wore this one on several different days already.  Such a nice touch and a dose of Christmas spirit!!!

As you can see I am picking up really well on the whole bow making thang!  LOL  As I said, it is a great down time activity for me.  Right before bed, I get to sit and relax and let my creativity juices flow!

Please leave a comment or suggestions for me to try next!! Thank you for reading and be sure to THANK GOD FOR HIS BLESSINGS!!

Project Time!

BOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to take a stab at making bows.  Purely for KyKy and our friends and family.  I dont think I could ever get to the point of selling them, but I am enjoying watching TONS of videos to learn how to make them!

Im excited to see how much I improve!  So, here is my very first bow I created.  Let me know what you think and keep watchimg for my growth!!
